Tony Blair only recently converted to Catholicism and he’s already telling the Pope how to modernise the Roman Catholic faith!

What Blair doesn’t realise is that God’s word doesn’t change, and it’s foolish to think we can adapt the message of God to today’s society. It is as relevant now as it was 2000 years ago, but we find it hard to swallow some of it because we live in a world entrenched in human rights and discrimination laws. We don’t like to face up to the truths so we try to change them to be more to our liking and be more like the world around us – which is the exact opposite of what God intended.

It seems that Blair is intent on continuing to leave a path of destruction wherever he goes.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has warned us that God is not going to intervene and save mankind from its own stupidity as we head towards our own destruction.

Well he is partly right in that God isn’t going to stop us from all but destroying each other and the planet, but what Dr. Rowan Williams has failed to grasp is that there will be a happy ending for all of God believers, for when Israel is overturned once more he will send Jesus back to the Earth to establish his Kingdom and put things right.

The closer we get to “doomsday” the closer that day is when Christ will descend from heaven… sounds like a happy ending to me!

And when [Jesus] had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” (Act 1:9-11)

When everything is going well financially – a secure job, an indulgent lifestyle, rising house prices etc. – we tend to think that it will continue, but as we are all too aware things have changed… unemployment is rising, house prices are falling and we aren’t buying luxury items anymore.

When things are all rosy we tend to put our trust in mankind and it’s often only when things look bleak do we genuinely place our trust in God. It’s too early to say for sure, but the uncertainty seems to be reminding people that trusting in earthly treasures is foolish and the only true path to happiness is through Jesus.
